BAGGIES DUO OUT OF LIVERPOOL GAME
The West Brom duo of BranislavIvanovic and Robert Snodgrass have been ruled out of the league encounter with Liverpool this weekend as a result of injury. Snodgrass and Ivanovic missed the last game at Arsenal and are not expected to return to the team for the Liverpool game.
Scotland international player Snodgrass is not expected to play again for the Baggies this season after he underwent surgery to correct a lower back problem. On his own part, Serbian national team player Ivanovic has a thigh problem and he’s not likely to play again this season. The Ex-Chelsea and Zenit St. Petersburg defender might have played his last game for the club as his contract ends this summer.
Ivanovicsigned for West Brom at the start of the season on a free transfer at the end of his contract at Russian Premier League giants Zenit St. Petersburg. The Serbian penned a one-year deal when he signed for the club last summer.
Snodgrass and Ivanovic were not part of the West Brom squad that lost at Arsenal to confirm the club’s relegation from the Premier League. The Baggies were beaten 3-1 at Arsenal thanks to goals from Emile Smith-Rowe, Ivorian football player Nicholas Pepe and Willian. The Liverpool game would be their first outing since relegation was assured against the Gunners last weekend.
England international Ainsley Maitland-Niles missed the Arsenal game as he cannot face his parent club. The midfielder is on loan at West Brom from Arsenal. The Englishman is in line to return for the home game against Liverpool.
For Liverpool, short-term injury absentees like defender OzanKabak and midfielders Naby Keita and vice-captain James Milner missed the last two games against Southampton (home) and Manchester United (away) due to injury. The three players are expected to miss out once again when the Reds face West Brom at the Hawthorns this weekend.
